When handling the vast quantities of paper trim produced on today's high through put machines, dust can be a problem.
We install more and more Dust Extraction filters after the Air/Product separators so that the air discharged to atmosphere is 99% clean.
Waste trim extraction of the vast quantities of paper produced on all types of printing machines, including Stitchers, Three Knife Trimmers, Guillotines, Rotary Trimmers, Web Presses Off Lines, etc. etc.

Security shredding equipment comes in many sizes.
We have handled shredded bank notes, cassette tapes, plastic cards and even shredded MOD manuals. Some applications involve Pneumatic Conveing the shredded product by air or by belt conveyors. Dust Extraction is usually needed if belt conveyors are used.
Extraction from all types of Shredding and Granulating machines. Throughputs range from 200 kg/hr up to 10 tons/hr

Tyre recycling involves the shredding and granualing of old tyres. During this process and the screening of the rubber crumb from the flock, large amounts of dust are generated. We have installed comprehensive Dust Extraction systems, to enable the equipment to run at its optimum speed.
We have been in Partnership with Shredding and Granulator manufacturers in the designing and installation of Tyre Recycling projects. We provided the dust extraction knowledge to handle the large quantities of "Flock". We also supplied fans, cyclones and filtration equipment to handle 3 tons per hour of the finished 2mm crumb.

Many a tyre buffing factory has caught fire mainly due to poor Dust Extraction equipment. We have installed bespoke Dust Extraction systems for many companies.Vaculug have recently moved machinery around at their Grantham works. Nicholls Air Systems designed and installed a new ducting layout to suit the relocated machinery.
We have a expert knowledge of extracting from most Buffing machines including Colmann, SIO etc. High performance systems help to eliminate the worry of a fire in the factory. Careful design of the ducting layout is a must. We pride our selves on having installed systems which give the customer peace of mind, that their factory will not burn down.

Dust Extraction Equipment be it large or small is required for almost every wood working machine. From the multi spindled machines, (producing tons of shavings), to the single sawblade producing small amount of sawdust; we have the answer.
We have extracted all types of wood dust from almost every machine manufacturer. We can provide small single bag extractors right up to the large multi-celled units. Complete turn key projects include shredding, pneumatic conveying, silo's and wood burners. All types of industries have benefitted from our vast knowlegde.

When producing Automotive Batteries, Dust Extraction systems are a vital part of the process.
We have designed and installed Dust Extraction systems handling "Lead Dust", utilizing reverse pulse cartridge filters. One large installation had three 30,000 cfm (51,000cmh) plants. The air was filtered initially with cartridges, then it passed through HEPA filters and returned to the factory.

The extraction system collects card waste from four areas, these include automatic die cutters plus hand stripping areas. There are two main extraction fans, these are housed inside an acoustic enclosure. The card is blown into air/product separators which then deposits the card into one of two compactors. This twin compactor arrangement works well, when one bin becomes full an automatic change over valve diverts the card into the empty bin. The dust produced is sucked from two filters and is automatically discharged into the compactors. There are no small dust bins to deal with. This fully automatic system is operated with a purpose designed control panel. There is a margin in the equipment to allow for a future corrugator to be added.

Tom at the ripe old age of 66 has retired from Nicholls Air Systems Limited.
Tom has been in the air movement industry all his working life, he started as an apprentice at 16 for DCE Limited, (a world leader in all forms of Dust Extraction). He joined Air Plants of Leicester to work for their Special Projects team.
For the last seven years he has worked for NAS as their Contracts Manager.
During this time he has been involved in the design and installation of many Dust Extraction and Pneumatic Conveying Systems. The photograph shows Tom receiving a Gold Watch from Roger Wright

Graham Taylor has a wealth of knowledge in designing Dust Extraction Systems and Pneumatic Conveying Systems. Having developed Ducting Express Limited into a well known company he brings a "hands on" approach to Nicholls.

Jon Grant has joined the company as the Contract Manager. Jon is in the middle of an engineering degree at the Open University. At 27 years of age Jon brings his knowledge of today's new views to the industry.
